The Green Mountain Falls/Chipita Park Volunteer Fire Department responds to fire emergencies within a 12 square mile area that includes Green Mountain Falls, Chipita Park, and unincorporated El Paso county. A portion of our district is located in Teller county.
There are four pieces of fire apparatus available for structure fire and Haz-Mat calls.
Our volunteers train extensively to maintain a high level of competency at drafting and port-a-tank operations. We also rely on our neighbors at Northeast Teller County Fire, Divide Fire, and Manitou Springs Fire to assist with "Water on Wheels" operations.
The department has one full time paid firefighter/EMT that is available Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM until 4:30 PM and is staffed by volunteers that respond to emergencies 24/7, 365. The department is dispatched by the Manitou Springs Police Department dispatch center. Automatic Mutual Aid is provided by the Cascade Volunteer Fire Department in the event of a wildland fire or structure fire. Cascade VFD also lends us a hand whenever needed.
